Tissue-Engineering Ovarian Follicles

John Jackson, Associate Professor, Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine

Video Overview

Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine professor John Jackson’s presentation reviewed progress in the study of female reproductive aging, particularly the complications associated with current hormone replacement therapies as a result of their inadequate co-regulation with the existing endocrine system. To avoid such potentially life-threatening side-effects, Dr. Jackson’s lab have been working to develop engineered ovarian tissues that could restore natural hormonal control – and potentially also fertility.
