Preventative Geriatrics in Outcomes-Based Healthcare Models
In this excerpt from his half-hour SENS6 presentation, SRF CEO Mike Kope describes the impact that results-based healthcare might have on the USA and other countries with entrenched process-based systems. He optimistically notes the effect that results-based healthcare systems (which are beginning to emerge in parts of the world without entrenched process-based systems) might have on regulatory bodies in the US and Europe. Instead of being reimbursed for using a particular drug or performing a particular test, a hospital or physician would be paid simply for restoring a patient to health. Were this approach applied in healthcare systems worldwide, rejuvenation biotechnologies would face considerably lower regulatory hurdles. A combinatorial strategy to treat multiple types of damage precursors would pair well with a healthcare system focused more on overall patient results rather than individual drug outcomes.
