Ethan Sarnoski (Buck Institute for Research on Aging)

Video Overview

Ethan graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in pathobiology in 2013. While at UConn, he researched improvements to the system for generating recombinant vaccinia viruses in the laboratory of Dr. Paulo Verardi. For his 2013 SENS Research Foundation Summer Internship, Ethan joined the laboratory of Dr. Judith Campisi at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging to study cellular senescence, the process by which damaged cells enter irreversible growth arrest. He presented his finding that mitochondrial dysfunction can induce senescence in cultured cells at the SENS6 Conference at the University of Cambridge. Ethan is currently pursuing his PhD in Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Yale University.
