Get Involved

There are ways for all sorts of different people to become involved with the SENS Foundation Academic Initiative.

Students: If you’re a student (high school, undergraduate, graduate, or medical), you can join the Academic Initiative as a member. Use the About Applying and Membership Application tabs at the left to learn more and to apply. The Initiative can provide you with ideas for research projects, mentorship on those projects, and funding, in addition to outreach opportunities and the chance to be one of the SENS Foundation Research Center's summer interns.

Mentors: Particularly if you’re a graduate student, you might be able to mentor some of our student members, providing them with guidance on their research projects or with more general advice.

Researchers: If you’re a faculty member or full-time fellow at a university, we could use your help, especially if you’re doing research. If you’re interested in providing students with ideas for projects, or with bringing undergraduates, graduate students, or post-docs into your lab to do SENS-related work, please get in touch with us.

Donors: Money makes the world go ‘round, and it helps the Academic Initiative go ‘round, too. We could use your donation to fund student research (either through grants that cover the cost of materials or merit-based scholarly awards that reward our most successful students), or we could use it to do outreach and marketing more quickly, more effectively, and on a larger scale than we would otherwise be able to. We can also use funding to develop coursework. To donate to the Initiative, you can use the Donate option at the left, or you can contact us to learn more about how we could use your support.

Volunteers: We don’t just need help from people who are part of academia, or who can provide financial support. We can find ways to use almost anyone who’d like to help out. If you’d like to volunteer with the Academic Initiative in some capacity, you can fill out a Volunteer Application, or you can get in touch with us to find out more about how we might be able to get you involved.

Organizations: The Academic Initiative is always looking for organizations that it might collaborate with. If your group is interested in cooperating in some way with the Initiative, get in touch with us and we’ll see what we might be able to accomplish together.
